AI Usage Meter — Last updated: April 2026

Getting started

  1. Open AIMeter and tap Sign in to claude.ai.
  2. Log in through the built-in browser — your credentials are captured automatically.
  3. Pick the organization you want to track. You're done.

Prefer to paste your session cookie manually? Use Add account → Paste cookie on the Accounts tab.

Does AIMeter work with a free Claude account?

Yes. The free tier of AIMeter tracks session and weekly limits for any claude.ai account — free, Pro, or Max.

What does Pro unlock?

Home screen widgets (small, medium, large), background alerts, multiple Claude accounts, fast refresh intervals (down to every 10 seconds), dashboard mode, extra usage control, custom alert thresholds, and auto-start session timer.

Pro is $0.99/month or $6.99/year. Supporter tiers ($2.99/month, $19.99/year) have the same features and support ongoing development.

How does auto-start session timer work?

When enabled (Pro only), AIMeter detects when you have no active 5-hour session and sends a minimal prompt to claude.ai to start one — so your session countdown begins without you needing to open Claude. Use Incognito mode if you don't want the starter conversation to appear in your chat history.

Why isn't my usage updating?

Make sure the account is signed in — your account on the Accounts tab should show a current session figure, not "Session expired." The default refresh interval is 5 minutes for free users, down to 10 seconds on Pro. Pull down on the dashboard to force an immediate refresh.

My session cookie expired

Open the account on the Accounts tab, tap Re-authenticate, and sign in again through the in-app browser. Your history, preferences, and widgets persist across re-authentications.

Widgets aren't showing my data

Long-press the widget → Edit → confirm the right account is selected. Widgets refresh at most every 15 minutes per Apple's WidgetKit policy; open the app or tap the widget to force a refresh.

Notifications aren't firing

Check Settings → Notifications → AIMeter and make sure notifications are allowed. On the Account Settings screen, verify that alert thresholds and notification types are enabled. Notifications only fire when the app has been allowed to run in the background at least once — open the app once after a fresh install.

I don't want to be charged for extra usage

On the dashboard, tap the Extra usage section and toggle it off. This mirrors claude.ai's own extra-usage setting. Pro also supports custom spend-alert thresholds.
